What does Chatbase actually do?
Chatbase is an AI customer support platform built around a text chat widget. You train it by uploading documents, connecting a knowledge base or pointing it at URLs, and it answers from that material. It says it serves more than 10,000 businesses, and it reaches past your website into WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack, plus helpdesks like Zendesk, Salesforce and Intercom. Voice and telephony exist, on the Standard plan and above, layered on a product whose core is text.
Where does Chatbase genuinely win?
Be fair to it. If the job is deflecting a large volume of repetitive support questions across several messaging channels, Chatbase is more mature at that than we are, and its helpdesk integrations are already built. It also publishes fixed monthly tiers you can budget against: free with 50 message credits, $40 a month for Hobby, $150 for Standard, $500 for Pro, with extra credits at $40 per thousand. If your visitors mostly type, and nobody needs a walkthrough, a trained text chatbot is the simpler tool. Our own voice agent vs chatbot page draws the same line.
Where does Agent247 do something Chatbase does not?
Chatbase answers from what you uploaded. Agent247 reads the actual live page every turn and clicks real elements on it, so it walks a visitor through the product while narrating, the way a rep does on a screen share. Setup follows from that. Instead of writing docs for it to ingest, you demo your product to the agent once, out loud, and it repeats that walkthrough for every visitor after, in over 100 languages, by voice by default.
How do they compare side by side?
| Criteria | Chatbase | Agent247 |
|---|---|---|
| Primary mode | Text chat, voice on Standard and above | Voice by default, text always there |
| Setup | Upload docs or a knowledge base | Walk it through your product once, talking |
| Live product demo | Not built for it, answers from uploads | The core feature, clicks the live page |
| Channels | Site, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Slack | Your website, via one script tag |
| Published price | $0, $40, $150, $500 a month by credits | By the minute, first hour free |
Both sets of numbers move. Ours are on the pricing page and theirs are on their pricing page, linked below. Check both before you decide.
So which one should you pick?
Deflecting a flood of text tickets across messaging channels? Chatbase is the more established choice, and the fixed tiers make the budget easy. Want visitors greeted by voice, shown the product on the real page, and walked toward signing up? That is the job Agent247 was built for, and it is not trying to be a multi channel support desk. Some teams end up running both: a chatbot for the help centre, a voice agent on the marketing site.
